Michelle Mazurek headshot

Michelle Mazurek is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. She directs the Security, Privacy, People lab (SP2) and the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2). Her research applies empirical methods to understand and improve the human elements of security- and privacy-related decision making. Recent projects include examining how and why developers make security and privacy mistakes; understanding the vulnerability-discovery process; studying how users learn about and decide whether to adopt security advice; and investigating methods for providing personalized transparency in data inferencing and ad targeting. Dr. Mazurek received her PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 2014.
