Dr. Kevin Kornegay, Director of the Cybersecurity Assurance and Policy (CAP) Center at Morgan State University (MSU) is featured in a Science/AAAS article highlighting MSU’s work to make AI and cybersecurity more accessible.

MSU’s programming starts at the middle-school level, with a focus on engaging girls in cybersecurity topics through culturally responsive teaching strategies (read more on this programming here). For students who have been accepted to MSU, Pre-Freshman Accelerated Curriculum in Engineering (PACE) is a summer bridge program designed to expose students to topics in math and physics. Undergraduate students already matriculated at MSU are able to engage with cybersecurity topics through a program newly created in 2023 — the summer AI Institute. PhD students are encouraged to engage in internships at companies and government organizations as part of their professional development, but also to “provide both employers and students the opportunity to learn from each other.” Dr. Kornegay says it best — “Education is key, and ‘it takes a village.’”
